The human body has 24 articulating and separated vertebrae protecting the human spinal cord. The spinal cord is a long, thin, tubular structure made up of nervous tissue, that extends from the medulla oblongata in the brainstem to the lumbar region of the vertebral column. The brain and spinal cord together make up the central nervous system which is the structure distributing information from the brain to the body. This work, consisting of 24 self bound books piled-up on top of each other, on a with paraffin wax coated stool, is a Hommage to this information flow. I consider the stool legs as the limbs of a human body. The sheets of rice paper, dipped in Chinese ink, coated with paraffin wax and bound to a book, expresses the flow of information that spreads through the body. As a book spreads information, so does the nerve. Furthermore, the books’ pages are tender and delicate as nerves are, which link from the brain down the spine into the limbs and further. There was as well a transformation after time, as the work significantly changed in size as we humans do.
